How it works

Aux Wars is a set of free music games you play in the browser: multiplayer battles for you and your friends, and daily puzzles in the spirit of Wordle, Bandle and Heardle. This page explains every mode. The classic game works like this:

1. Get in a lobby

Hit Quick Match to jump into an open game, browse public lobbies, or create your own: public or private with a 6-letter invite code you can share as a link. 3 to 8 players, 1 to 5 rounds, you choose how long everyone gets to pick. Prefer head-to-head? Song Off mode works with just 2.

2. Read the prompt

Every round reveals a prompt: “The song you'd play walking into a fight”, “Best song for a night drive”, or an artist battle where everyone picks the best song by the same artist. There are 170+ prompts and counting, and none repeat within a match.

3. Pick your song

Search for a song or paste a YouTube link before the timer runs out. You can change your pick until time's up. Submissions are checked automatically: actual songs only, no ten-hour loops, no jumpscares, no ear-destroyers.

4. Listen together

Everyone hears a 30-second snippet of each submission through the official YouTube player, in shuffled order, with the submitter hidden. No skipping ahead. The whole lobby listens together.

5. Vote and win

Vote for the round's best pick. You can't vote for your own. Every vote is a point, submitters are revealed with the results, and after the final round the podium crowns the winner. Ties are broken fairly: most round wins first, and genuinely level players share the placement.

🎤 Song Off (head-to-head mode)

A knowledge battle for 2+ players: everyone takes turns naming songs by the same artist. 30 seconds per turn: name a real song by that artist that hasn't been said yet or you're eliminated. Last player standing wins. The host picks an artist, or rolls a random one (optionally filtered by genre); on a rematch you can change both, and random mode won't repeat an artist your lobby has already played. Spelling doesn't have to be perfect, close enough counts.

🔤 Alphabet Challenge

Pick how many letters to play (up to all 26). Each round deals a random letter and everyone races to name the most popular artist or band starting with it: 30 seconds, all at once, no peeking at each other's picks. Your artist's Deezer fan count is your score for the round, the biggest name takes the letter, and artists named in earlier rounds are banned. Most total fans wins. “The Beatles” counts for T and B, because arguing about “The” isn't the game.

Daily games

Five daily music games, one puzzle each per day, the same for everyone worldwide, resetting at midnight UTC. If you already do Wordle or Bandle every morning, these slot right into the routine. Completing a daily builds a streak; missed days can be replayed from the 📅 archive calendar on each game (practice only, streaks count on the day itself). Every daily has a share button so you can compare results without spoiling the answer.

📈 Daily Views

Higher or lower, with YouTube view counts. The left video's views are revealed; guess whether the new video has more or fewer. Each correct guess continues the chain, and 10 in a row is a perfect day.

🎤 Artistle

Guess the secret artist in 10. Every guess gets colour-coded feedback on genre, debut year, members, country, and solo/band. 🟩 exact · 🟨 close (same continent, related genre, year within 5, members within 1) · 🟥 wrong, with ▲▼ arrows pointing toward the answer. Hints unlock as you go.

⏳ Before or After

Music history, one release at a time. You're shown a song and its release year: did the next song come out before or after it? Guess right and the chain continues, 10 steps to a perfect day.

🧩 Medley

Sixteen clues, four songs. Group the 4 clues that all point to the same song: a producer, a year, an album, a lyric, a famous sample. Four groups from easy to fiendish, four lives. Solve them all to keep your streak.

🎲 Daily Blind Ranking

Same 10 artists for everyone. Rank them one at a time before you see who's next, no take-backs. Then see the crowd's average top 10 and what percentage of players agreed with each of your placements.

🎲 Just for fun

Blind Ranking Unlimited: the same one-at-a-time ranking with random artists from any genre, as many rounds as you like. No score, no streaks, purely for the arguments.

Common questions

Is Aux Wars free?

Yes. Every game on the site is free to play. The site is supported by ads and the odd affiliate link on results screens, never inside a live game.

Do I need an account?

No. You can play every daily puzzle and join any multiplayer lobby as a guest. An account just adds saved stats, streaks and match history on top.

Can I play on my phone?

Yes. Aux Wars runs in the browser on phones, tablets and computers, with nothing to download. Multiplayer lobbies are joined with a link or a 6-letter code, so the whole group can be in within a minute.

When do the daily games reset?

Midnight UTC, all five at once. Everyone worldwide gets the same puzzles, so scores are always comparable.
