AUX WARS

Contact

Aux Wars is built and run by one person, so everything sent here reaches him directly. Email contact@auxwars.co.uk. There is no ticketing system and no support team, which mostly means replies are slower than a company's and rather more useful.

Something broken?

Tell us what you were doing and what happened instead. The two details that save the most time are the lobby code, if it was a multiplayer game, and roughly when it happened, because the server logs are searchable by time. A screenshot beats a description.

If it happened on a daily puzzle, say which one and which date. The dailies are worked out from the date, so a bug on a specific day can be reproduced exactly.

A song was wrongly rejected

This is the most common report and it is usually worth sending. Song Off and Popularity Contest check answers against an artist's catalogue from iTunes, and that catalogue is not perfect: deep cuts, features and anything credited unusually can be missing. Send the artist, the exact title you typed and the YouTube link if you have it.

The matching is deliberately narrow, because wrongly crediting somebody with a track they did not name corrupts the score in a way that a rejection does not. That is a real trade-off rather than a bug, but the line moves when enough people hit it in the same place.

Suggest an artist or a puzzle

The daily datasets are curated by hand, so suggestions genuinely get used. Artistle needs acts with an uncontroversial formation year and line-up. Medley needs songs with four true clues that do not give the title away. If you have a good one, send it.

Copyright concerns

Aux Wars doesn't host any music. All playback happens through official YouTube embeds. If you're a rights holder with concerns about a video, YouTube's own reporting tools control what is embeddable. If you want a specific video blocked from being submitted in Aux Wars as well, contact us and we'll add it to our blocklist.

Press and everything else

Same address. If you are writing about the site and want detail on how the games are built or where the music data comes from, the about page covers most of it and the rest is available on request.
